ABOUT BERTINA

I grew up in a small 140 year old village, Boons in South Africa. As a scholar and student I worked in my family's shop Boons Station Cash Store, where I shaped my views and understanding of human character and the importance of P&L  I was a Mintek Bursar and majored in Chemistry at the then RAU. After my workback period I started working in the mining industry in 1995. I absolutely love mining and the people associated with the industry. After an acute Covid-19 infection, spending 9 days including Christmas 2020 in ICU, I reprioritised my life. I have spent the last year on a journey of self discovery and self development being the Coach and Coachee.  Coaching is a life altering process that enriches the lives of everyone touched by it, by having unconditional positive regard for self and others to make the best determination to reach self actualisation.

I have two fairly unique intertwined journeys. I started my Mining Journey on a beautiful mining site in the mountains of Mpumalanga in South Africa. The secret being to keep your self respect, gain respect of others while keeping relationships strong.

My second poignant story is stepping back to life after nearly dying in December 2020 due to an acute Covid-19 infection.

I started my mining career in the Laboratory as what was then called the Chief Chemist. I moved to Production Superintendent 2 years later and steadily progressed to Plant Manager, Metallurgical Head and General Manager. My career progression was steady to becoming one of the only female General Managers in South Africa.  I can guide other professionals on their journeys of self discovery in what can be described as challenging career situations.

I can also assist others that have been impacted by Covid-19 to find their way to healthy, productive lives filled with joy.
